(“well what was she like when she was young?”)”she dreamed of being a celebrity, just like everyone!”

what did you want to do when you were young?
when i was very VERY young and i filled out the dr suess book All About Me, which i highly recommend for everyone to fill out at least once in their life, but to the question of what i wanted to be when i grew up i answered 1) a swim teacher or 2) a woodcarver at the fair.

well i can’t swim and i’ve never learned how to whittle, so i guess i should probably think about some new professions.

so what else?

When i was a high schooler i wanted to be a NatGeo photographer or a travelling street performer. Now we are getting somewhere! I have these skills!

fast forward some more – now people are starting to ask stupid questions, like “but how’re you gonna make any mooonnnnnneeeyyyy????”
money money money

hey wait a minute, this wasn’t part of the equation when i was little, people only wanted to hear about my hopes and dreams and goals and wishes and wants, why did this line of questioning change?? why should i now have to change my dreams for money? my dream isn’t to make money, it’s to make art.

But it’s the american way, no, the american DREAM, to make money, make as much money as you can, nay, as much money as anyone EVER can make, at the expense of literally ANYTHING you must make THE MOST MONEY of all

children ? no, money.
pets? no, money.
art? no, money.
parents? no, money.
dinner? no, money.
love? no…money…? not a lot of that either…

maybe we should start thinking about this in a different way~
