also my probably very controversial opinion:
learning finnish is EASIER than learning spanish.
anyway, how DOES fluency work?
or, for our purposes, what is myanswer when people ask if i speak finnish?
well, i can say the words and the alphabet.
well, i know what songs are saying about as much as i ever do in english.
well, i can construct some very basic sentences and introductions.
well, sometimes in my head i’m answering with finnish lyrics.
well, almost fucking nobody speaks suomi aquí anyhow, so,,,.
no niin, minä puhun suomea.
(edit – i was watching videos and didn’t realise until like halfway thru one that it was only captioned in suomi and i knew everything she was saying omg it was amazing it was like the time MDFR and i were at the lyceyum and i was soooo confused why 2 people on either side of the stage were just saying one thing into the microphone and the other person repeating it,,,,,,then i realised, one microphone person was in english and the other microphone person was in spanish and i was like (enter mind blown emoji aquí) so yes, i do know finnish.
